Clip the highlights

I still live on the same block on which I grew up.... the Voelker block as it is still called. My Mom, Grace, is 89, and my Aunt, the other Mrs. Voelker is in her 90s and lives next door to us. My sister, Cathy, will soon be back on the block.

After Grade 13, I spent a year in Nursing School, worked for a year, and then got my B.A. in English & Psychology at W.L.U. in 1969. While there, I met an Eastwood Grad, Peter Mansell (the guys at the other schools always looked better). We both went to Teachers' College and graduated in 1970. That May we were married and moved to the block accross the street. Three years later, my Grandparents' house was for sale and we were then back
on the Voelker block and still are. Three of our kids grew up in that house and all went to W.C.I. My other daughter lives in Fairport, N.Y. and I have 3 grandchildren.
Peter and I got our first teaching jobs at Eastwood C.I., me for 2 years until I joined the new staff at the new Bluevale C.I. in Waterloo. Peter followed the next year. For 31 years we taught and are now both retired since 2001. Sounds sort of boring but not so. We have loved living near family and friends and we are still busy around town.
We have been truly blessed!!!
